For my first posting, I wanted to draw you in with a truly delicious meal. I love love love korean BBQ, and especially this one restaurant that specializes in duk bo sam called Shik Do Rak. But being a busy and poor med student, I usually dont have both the time and the money to go to said restaurant. Thus, when I saw these ingredients at the local 99 Ranch Supermarket, I said to myself, "Self, let's try to make Shik Do Rak at home". Boy am I glad I did. And for such a momentous occasion, I had a genuine Korean over for dinner for taste testing. He agreed that this as good as the restaurant at a mere fraction of the cost. So, lets begin!
Ingredients
1 head of romaine lettuce (washed)
5 pounds of beef rib eye, thin sliced (can be bought this way)
1 package of rice paper sheets (not cut)
1/8 cup sesame oil
1.5 tablespoon salt
3 tsp freshly cracked pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking the meat)
Method
1. Cut the romaine lettuce into strips, about 0.5 inch thick.
2. Cut the rice paper evenly into 4 squares (about 2.5 in x 2.5 in)
3. Put vegetable oil in a frying pan and begin cooking your meat on low heat. Remove from heat when meat no longer red.
4. In another bowl, mix together the sesame oil, salt, and cracked pepper
5. Now you're ready to eat! Either dip the meat in the sesame oil mixture or spoon it onto the rice paper. Add lettuce, wrap, and enjoy! Super delicious!
